This particular species of Clownfish, known as the Cinnamon/Red and Black Anemone Clownfish, displays a striking coloration ranging from dark red to orange. It is distinguished by a distinctive "saddle" of mahogany on its back, and a white head band that eventually transitions into a beautiful blue hue as it matures. Younger individuals also have 1 to 2 additional white bars at the mid-body and base of the tail, adding to their unique appearance.
As a highly evolved species, the Cinnamon Clownfish exhibits a unique adaptation to survive in its natural habitat. Through absorbing the protective mucus of anemones, it is able to shield itself from the potential stings of its host. This process can occur in two ways: either through absorbing the Anemone's mucus, which it uses to prevent self-injury, or by producing its own mucus as a reaction to the Anemone's sting. The Cinnamon Clownfish has been observed to coexist with various types of anemones, including entacmaea quadricolor (commonly), Heteractus crispa (occasionally), and Heteractus magnifica (rarely).
This species of Clownfish, known as the Cinnamon/Red and Black Anemone Clownfish, may exhibit territorial and aggressive behavior, particularly as they age and towards other Clownfish.
